Street Art in the Grand Palais, Paris

On Sunday, the 15th of October 2006, people loving street art could come to the big event organized by the town hall. It the first time that such an event has been created in Paris: RUE AU GRAND PALAIS.

The beautiful and prestigious Grand Palais of Paris, which has been just restored, opened its door to welcome different artists representing several arts relative to street art such as Dance, Grafiti, Concert, Skate, and other kind of urban art representations.

In front of the Grand Palais of Paris, you could see a big flyer which invite you to this event.

This event aimed at dedicating to urban cultures. It allowed to let audience know about these subjects. What does exactly represent street art? This is a movement coming from street, properly said. It means and targets mostly the Ghetto. In this area, an identity was and has been created since a while thanks to words, actions and ways to act. All what you can find and assimilate to street is united and take part to the definition of street art. In consequence, dance, music, fashion, sports composed the street art.

Three days of performance were ofered to the city to discover all the aspect of this culture. Thousands of people were present and could have participated to this show.

More than 3000 people were present to this event.

Making line for thirty minutes, at least, was worth to wait to be inside and see the street art developped around differents aspects. You could see some paintings, since the moment you arrived in this palace: the Grand Palais, which allows to enter directly in the Street mood. Hip Pop sounds up and led you  to follow the cool mood. Free exceptional concerts were organised with the participation of well known artists, whom Diam's, Oxmo Puccino, le Remede, Hocus Pocus and Krys, Amadou and Mariam, Zong, Saian Supa Crew, Dee Nasty.

Â- Rue du Grand Palais Â» is a decision taken by the Ministry of Culture and Communication with the collaboration of the radio Â- Generations 88.2 Â» and Nova.
After three nice days during which no problem happened, the French Ministry of Culture decided to let this event come back every year in a monument representative to the French heritage.
